Johnny Doyle, a dairy farmer from Mead near Cohuna in Northern Victoria has been singing and playing music since the age of six.  It was his first efforts in music and entertaining Senior Citizens and other charity organisations which led to Johnny  and his sister Kathy being selected as winners of the Cohuna Shire Young Citizen Award in 1982.

While still at school in year nine Johnny started training and conducting the Cohuna High School Choir. After gaining his HSC and leaving school to come home to the family farm he continued to work voluntarily with the choir for another four years until the school employed a full time music teacher. During this period he was also the drummer for the old time dance band "Evergreens" for four years and this proved to be a good grounding in disciplined drumming. He spent fifteen years as a member of the Kerang Brass Band playing drums and  cornet.

Johnny enjoyed considerable success in talent quests when he began his Country Music including winning the open section of the Bendigo Easter fair in 1985 an 1986 and also the yodelling section of the Latrobe valley Eistedfodd plus many others throughout Victoria and Southern New South Wales.

His first trip to Tamworth was in 1985 as part of the Dave Ovenden bus tour. In 1986 he was selected as a top twenty finalist in the Starmaker  Quest and accompanied by his parents Jack and Margaret and younger siblings: Kathy,Anne Julie and Stephen the annual  pilgrimage to the Tamworth Festival began.  At  this time he also released his album "Always A Part Of My Mind",  the title track being self penned.  2018 was his thirty fourth consecutive trip to the festival.

In the early days the Johnny Doyle Family Band consisted of Johnny, his father Jack, sisters Anne, Kathy, Julie and brother Stephen. Over the years as his sisters and brother moved away to carry out their own work and music careers Johnny's three children moved in to take their place and the Johnny Doyle Band now comprises: Johnny, his three children Michael, Melissa and Anthony and father Jack.

He plays a wide range of music from traditional to modern country, old time dance, fifties /sixties  rock and roll and traditional Irish where his fiddle playing comes to the fore. Now a multi instrumentalist  playing guitar, bass, drums, fiddle, harmonica and piano accordion Johnny is well known  for his ability to back other artists.

In 2005 at the Tamworth Festival Johnny was presented with The Peel Valley Lions Club award for his service to Country Music Johnny and the band perform at many functions throughout the year such as: clubs, weddings, birthday parties, senior  citizen days etc. He also has a number of nursing homes and retirement villages in Northern Victoria and Southern NSW where he entertains voluntarily on a regular basis and has done for a number of years.

Johnny is an excellent artist not to be missed so book your seats early.
